Stacy and Rob had an amazing wedding last May at Millcreek Barns, probably the most adorable wedding venue in all of my Michigan. I really loved the style and feel of this wedding, not to mention the incredible bride, groom, and family that made it all possible. I had to share the album design!
Speaking of albums, I’m proud to offer a variety of cover styles, sizes, and chic customizations to my amazing clients through the best album company out there, Finao. Their Finao ONE album is to die for. Check them out!
I’ve had a major itch for senior portraits and had to turn it into a special! Book senior photos during your break and get half off the session fee. That’s only $125 for an hour and $175 for two hours. What a deal!
Express yourself through custom, on-location photography. You can choose elements to make your senior collection completely unique, and completely you. Every one-hour session includes unlimited locations, outfits, and photos PLUS all the files with print permission. A preview goes online within hours. You can add prints, invitations or announcements, openhouse guestbooks, and even additional time. All prints are free doubles for the first thirty days after you session.
This is my second year leading some young photographers from the Michigan City Boys and Girls Club in the amazing national program ImageMakers. I can’t share their photographs from this year’s contest yet, but here is an incredible photograph taken last year by one of our members, age 7. (Not just incredible because I’m in it, either.)
The ImageMakers Photography Contest provides aspiring photographers with a chance to express their creativity by learning photography skills and putting them into practice. Club members, ages 7 through 12, work with SLR cameras to capture their world, at the club, at home, and in the community. The photo essay portion of the contest captures service projects or activities that hopefully will encourage viewers to help other.
Members choose their best work to display at Lubeznik Center for the Arts. Winners from each club go on to compete regionally, and even nationally. In 2006, a member of our small club was a national winner, with several members since receiving awards at regionals.
This Saturday, the Lubeznik Center is hosting an opening reception from 2-4pm, during which the photographs going on to regionals will be announced. If you can’t make it in Saturday, don’t worry. The exhibit will be open all month. Please stop by the Lubeznik Center to see the amazing photography done by our members. They worked so hard to share their vision with our community, and I feel so blessed to got to lead this program and watch their work come together all winter!
Anne, Richard, and their amazing families really started my 2010 wedding season off right! This wedding was truly a family affair. I often only talk with the bride before the wedding, sometimes meeting in person, but often not. It is a rare treat when I get a chance to correspond with Mom, Dad, Bride & Groom! We’ve been talking details for two years and I’ve never been more excited to watch the details come together! When I arrived, I felt like I knew all of them forever, even though we had yet to meet in person.
Anne’s sister Emily had to repierce her second hole so she could wear the beautiful black diamonds her father gave her as a gift! Adorable!
SO GORGEOUS!
This little guy really tried to hold it back, but when a yawn comes on, it comes on.
This is one of my favorite wedding dresses of all time. This seamstress made both Anne & another of my brides dresses. I am patiently awaiting her contact information so I can brag her all over my blog and site. She is a GENIUS!
Gorgeous white snow and sky, couldn’t ask for a more beautiful backdrop!
This is my absolute favorite photo:
Speaking of beautiful and favorite, check this RING!
Check out this cake! It was one of those you can smell five tables away. It was taunting me from the moment I arrived.
I can’t get enough of this gorgeous rings, so here is another shot!

Heather and Tyler are getting married in much more fabulous weather than this, in St. Lucia, in July. I would have to say that this was my wettest session ever, though no quite the coldest. The snow was melting as soon as it hit me, and eventually, just turned into rain. These two were major sports, however, and braved over an hour of soaking yuck! Maybe it’s because they started by warming up in their bed…
Reading in bed with the dogs probably happens successfully every night of the week, but with a photographer there, it sort of ends up something like this:
Loving the night at home style!
And on to the snowstorm…
GREAT story about the origin of this scarf: To propose, Tyler left a long, long piece of yarn tied from a sign, wound through the house, to the ring! Now, that yarn is this scarf. Amazing to have an engagement scarf!
Check these facial expressions, amazing:
Wish I was going with you two on your destination wedding, this session gave me the urge for a tropical vacation in a major way!

2010 is all booked up! I am looking forward to some amazing weddings with arguably the most creative, adorable, and hilarious brides and grooms ever! While I’m not taking any more weddings for 2010, I am always down for portraits with creative, adorable, and hilarious families, couples, and seniors!
This was the most DIFFICULT CHOICE! Everyone has such beautiful little pets with the most adorable stories! Of course, everyone that entered gets 50% off their pet session, which includes your engagement or family session as long as your furry friend gets some time in the spotlight!
Everyone meet Cleo, the beautiful pup of my December 2008 couple, Ashley & TG Baughan!
“Well, I’d like for you to meet ” Cleo” short for “Cleopatra.” She is a miracle puppy! Let me tell you a little about her story. When we first
picked up Cleo, she had pneumonia! After waking up one morning she wouldn’t stop shaking and crying. I rushed her to the animal hospital and after a very long day and many IV’s and much medicine she slowly started to recover. We later found out that she was born from a puppy mill! The humane society rescued 72 dogs from the false breeder a few days later. She has been the biggest blessing in my life! The funniest thing she’s ever done is climb the baby gate! I put her behind it and next thing you know she was in the same room as me again! We caught her in the action in the attached photo! Cleo has been through A LOT! She was diagnosed with a portosystemic liver shunt at 6 months old. She needed to have a major surgery to shut off the shunt or else she didn’t have very long to live. We rushed her to the University of Tennessee to have the procedure done and she actually had trouble recovering from the anesthesia and was in the ICU for 5 days! We are very grateful for her survival! She has more energy and more personality now then ever! She is truly a princess and a fabulous puppy! She can sit, lay down, roll over, shake, and “beg”- stand on her hind legs- all on demand. She got her name, “Cleopatra” because my family is obsessed with Shakespear! Our dog while growing up was “Macbeth” and my sisters dog is “Ophilia.” She is the perfect pup for your pet photography contest!”
Here is another that came a super, duper close second, adorable!
My upcoming September bride, Tracy, submitted this adorable photo of her baby Maggie! Interesting info about Tracy, she is going to be a vet, and her last name is Petzke. How could you not take your dog to a vet named Dr. Petzke? ADORABLE!
“Maggie is an almost 11 year old Golden Retriever who often acts like she is only two. Looking at the white rings around her eyes I can still see the pudgy puppy that stole my heart so many years ago and got into lots of mischief and would do “heat laps” around the house and yard to try and wear off some of her unending energy. Hands down my favorite thing to do with her is take her to the southwest Michigan beaches. As soon as you ask her, “Do you want to go to the beach” she will not sit still and is pacing back and forth demanding I hurry as I try to get towels, leash, and everything together and goes from window to window the entire car ride. Once at our favorite state park beach, the pure joy she displays is contagious. Everything from tearing down the sand dune to getting that first feel of the water and chasing the first thrown stick is like it’s the first time. No matter how bad my day was or whatever worries I had, they all disappear when I see the smile (yes, it actually looks like a smile) on her face and how something so simple can bring pure joy. Maggie’s taught me how to enjoy the simple joys of life, be a constant loving friend, and reinforced many of the reasons I am becoming a veterinarian.”
There are so many more that I can’t even post them all! For now, here is an entry that came in from a fellow photographer, and of course, the photo is adorable! Check out the cutie, Layla! Holly, the Lady & the Lens, shared an adorable photo of her fam!
“Layla is a puggle who likes to snuggle! Her favorite toy is a skunk and she love Rachel Ray food. She likes long walks on the beach and pees like a boy.Everytime I yawn she copies me.She helps me get through the day by sitting in my chair with me asI work and dances/howls/sings with me in the kitchen. She’s my little girl, shes my everything!”
Remember, everyone that entered gets a half price pet session, and the top winner, Cleo, gets a free pet session with a $150 print credit! Next time you are up for your visit, you have some mad credits to cash in, Ashley! Bring that cutie!
Sarah and Chad are awesome. The fact that they were even willing to do photos in this blizzardy weather we’ve had lately proves this. We kept our session short and sweet, saving the second half for some promotional photos for Sarah’s next album– she’s a musician! For now, check out the winter cuteness, and come warmer weather, you’ll see her again!
When it got too cold, we dipped into Blackbird Cafe! Great place to warm up, study, meet, eat, whatever!
February 16, 2010 - 9:47 pmMary Koselke - I love the photos! Thanks for having some of them done in our shop! I really think they look lovely and I wish you both the very best!-Mary Koselke - co owner Blackbird Cafe
February 17, 2010 - 4:30 amAmy - Mary: Thanks for letting us warm up in your awesome space! Also, the quiche is amazing!
Jeanne and Larry are intense! They braved some freezing weather to get these shots and didn’t even show it! If you had a photo of me during this session, the weather would have been much more apparent. At least we got some classic Chicago for their Christmas cards!
You guys are a blast, CANNOT wait for the wedding!
